Beginner Kits for Every Budget

Not so long ago, I remember being new to the stamping world. There were HUNDREDS of items to choose from, and  I was so overwhelmed with what items I should get first. Like any red-blooded American woman, I wanted the most for my money...and since I couldn't convince my husband to let me purchase EVERYTHING in the catalog, I chose all the stamps my [husband-imposed] budget would let buy. No paper. No ink. No Stampin' Mist... I had all these amazing stamps, and nothing to ink them with or stamp them on. I was not a happy camper. I received all  these cute stamps, and quickly realized they were just going to sit there in the box until I was allowed to buy more supplies...

Now- three years later, I have thought of the items I so desperately needed in the beginning. I have assembled "packages" for those who are new to stamping and don't know where to begin [and for the people who's spouses impose silly things like a "budget" upon]. There are Beginner Kits for Every Budget ! There are three different packages to choose from, and the first one starts UNDER 50.00! They include the basics like card stock, a stamp set, ink, stamp cleaner, etc...

Please contact me with any questions. I have plenty of the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog for purchase ($6.00) to give your great ideas and items to add to your wish list :)

March & April Workshops

Wow- the blog is finally getting updated. I apologize for not being very diligent in keeping you all up to date on the exciting and neat things coming up. Keep in mind that all classes are on the first Monday evening of each month at 6:30pm. The next class is Monday  May 3rd. Continue to check for updates!

First off, thank you to all the ladies who came to the Easter class and the April class. We all had a great time and made some really neat things. Here is a shot of April's work from the Easter class. She did a great job!

My favorite of the four projects that night is the Bashful Blue card using the Chocolate Bunny stamp. He is so cute! We used Bashful Blue card stock with the Chocolate Bunny stamped on Close to Cocoa card stock with Chocolate Chip ink. We also used the Baroque Motifs as the background stamp using my favorite Versa Mark ink. It is always a huge hit at my classes because of its versatility. We trimmed off the card with a bit of ribbon, and the cute flower shaped Sherbet buttons.

The next project was the fun mini Milk Cartons. Thanks to Malia for pre-cutting them on her Big-Shot die cutter using the Mini Milk Carton Bigz Die. We used the Orchid Opulence card stock accented with the Shades of Spring designer series paper (another favorite of mine), and tied it off with the So Saffron grosgrain ribbon and a mini clip. They worked out great for holding the jelly  beans that Becca brought.

The second card was made using the Eggcoutrements stamp set from the Spring Occasions Mini catalog. We used Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon, and Pink Pirouette ink which was a retired color (that's right...WAS...more on that in the next post though).

The last project of the evening were the ever so chic Easter eggs using the Eggcellent Eggs kit. They were so fun to make, and everyone loved the rhinestone bling to polish off the eggs with.

The April technique class was fun as well. We focused on using hostess sets. Thanks again to April for the pictures!

The card on the left was made using the Of The Earth level one hostess set and the following card stock colors: Really Rust, So Saffron, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy, and Creamy Caramel. The Versa Mark ink was used again here for the bird and the phrase, and we used the bleaching technique for this card as well to give it an earthy, rustic look.

The second card was made using the Asian Artistry level two hostess set. We used Soft Suede, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Dusty Durango, and finished it off with a touch of Basic Black. We used the Aqua Painter pen to give the card a water color effect.

Finally, we did the Stamping on a Candle technique. I think this was the biggest hit of the night. All the ladies were free to choose from any of the stamp sets I had, so everyone's candle was unique. They all turned out great!

Valentine's Workshop

These are the cute projects we made at Becca's Stampin' Up! work shop last saturday. There were five ladies there and everyone (I think) had a great time! Becca and her Mom Deana were great Hostesses and Becca made the most delicious cupcakes (which would be fine if she brings some today when she comes over).

We made a cute 3x3 treat box (link is on the right side of my home page) using the Sale-A-Bration Good Neighbor paper for the lid. The base of the box is made with one of my favorite colors and always versatile Chocolate Chip. The stamped images are stamped in Real Red and the boxes are tied off with coordinating ribbon that slips off to open the box and reveal the treats inside. They are so simple and easy to make, and you can fill them with almost anything.

The second project we made was the chic black and pink card using the Melon Mambo In Color stamp pad and the Always  stamp set. The Always stamp set is quickly becoming one of my favorites. The black and pink really give this card a unique and fresh look for Valentine's day. The scallop edge on the card is my favorite part of this card. It was created using the Sale-A-Bration Scallop Punch. By gluing the strip of Melon Mambo cardstock under the scallop, it almost makes it look like lace.

In Color & Sale-A-Bration

I love this year's In Color stamp pads and paper! Once a year, Stampin' Up! comes out with six new colors for the year. This year the colors are Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango, Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry. They are so bright and vibrant! For the past few workshops, I have used them in a variety of ways. These cards were made using the "For All You Do" stamp set. The versatility of this set is wonderful!
This card was made using the "For All You Do" stamp set. The colors used for this card are Bermuda Bay (teal), Rich Razzleberry (purple), Crushed Curry (yellow), Soft Suede (Brown), and Sage Shadow (stem of flower). The VersaMark Ink was used to create the subtle flowers on the right side of the card.

The second card was made using Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, and Bermuda Bay. The clean lines give this card a simplistic look. The In Color paper and ink contrast the basic white background for a little punch of color.

The last card was made using the new Sale-A-Bration paper "Welcome Neighbor". It is such a great pack! There are so many cute designs and the smaller 6x6 size makes it simple and easy for smaller projects with out ending up with a lot of scrap. The stamp sets used for this card were the "Defining Alphabet" and "Define Your Life". They are some of my personal favorites because they can be used in an array of different ways. The kindness definition was stamped using the Bermuda Bay In Color ink and the "K" was stamped using the ever so functional VersaMark on the Soft Suede In Color Paper.

**Total thanks to Becca for taking these awesome shots of all the neat projects!

Support Hatian Disaster Relief with Stampin' Up!

"Stampin' Up! Announces Haitian Disaster Relief Efforts"

Stampin′ Up! demonstrators have a long history of making a difference in the lives of others--especially when disaster strikes and the need is greatest. So it was not surprising that so many demonstrators have contacted us in the past week asking what the plan is for helping to provide relief for those who continue to suffer from the effects of the earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12.

Here is the plan:
From now until February 28, 2010 ...$2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set you buy will be donated American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

Product Name/Item #/Price
I {Heart} Hearts – clear-mount (block D recommended)118571 $18.95
I {Heart} Hearts – wood-mount 117010 $26.95

This is a simple and straightforward plan; the more stamp sets that you order, the greater the difference you make. Often it is the simplest plans that work best!

Dead Fish Hat...First Attempt

While looking for a few last minute Christmas ideas, I came across this really awesome fish hat pattern on Ravelry.com. I knew it would be perfect for Jonathan, and a week and a half before Christmas, I thought it would be smart to bet my husband $10.00 that I would finish it before Christmas. Even though I knew I was coming down with a cold (that I am just now getting over), and we had two different Christmas parties to attend, and the simple fact that I had never knitted anything other than a washcloth, I was convinced that I would win that $10.00 and make Cliff wish he had never bet against his darling wife...

Long story short, two days after Christmas, Jonathan got his hat, and Cliff got his 10 bucks. The end results were pretty good for a first attempt, and I am working on my third one now, which will be finished soon. Jonathan LOVES his hat, and wears it all the time, even inside.
